This was one of the largest projects I’ve ever done. I never liked the spool holder that came with the Ender 3 V2. I didn’t like that it was on top oif the printer and i didn’t like that it sometimes shook the frame of the printer when it was full and being used. So i found another spool holder that set beside the printer and i really liked it. But it has a problem to in that the spool could come off of it if there was only a small amount of filament on it.

So I went looking for a better spool holder and found this one Mega Anti-Tangle Spool Holder by graham01 - Thingiverse It has 23 (not small) 3D printed parts to it along with 8 608 bearings that are required for it to work smoothly. It’s not small after it is together and took about 55 hours to print.

Here is the finished product

That is a 2 Kg roll of filament in it but can also hold smaller or larger (5Kg rolls) of filament. After using it for a while I really like it.

Just thought i’d share this with everyone here in case someone wants a new spool holder.

I have that 1 downloaded from TVerse as well, but haven’t printed it yet. I even have the ball bearings.

I think its worth it. I did have to add a pad of flat rubber to the bottom of it because when the filament gets low on the roll, it was moving the whole spool holder towards the printer. After adding the rubber pad that stopped that. Had it left over from another project i had done.

I never liked these bearing spool holders. The price is that retracts cause backlash on the spools. Fast feed rates cause the spools to over roll, when feeding stops before movements. Then you need these re-spool mounts to compensate.

I cannot see any real benefit from these over designed spool holders.

Haven’t had either of those problems with this one. At least not yet.

I’m a great believer in the KISS principal. “Keep it simple stupid” seems to work best for me.

I prefer Keep It Scientifically Sophisticated. :smiley:

That would leave me out right off the bat. I just copy whatever I see on Youtube.
