I was using Prusa Slicer but have switched to Cura. Prusa’s big advantage is the ability to add color changes, custom g-code, etc. at any layer level in their preview mode; but I prefer Cura overall. And now that I’ve seen that video, I really prefer Cura.
So, basically, that video outlines in greater detail, the technique I outlined in my previous post. It’s great to know Cura has built in facilities to handle things like filament change. That knob he printed for his extruder also looks very handy. You might want to print one for yourself (in multiple colors of course ).
I don’t have the stock extruder. I have a double jawed one and there is no place to put the knob, but it works fine. I finally had some success printing 3 colours but my mail man came to see my printer at my behest and I got distracted and the fourth colour didn’t work. Then I realized that I should have chosen the filaments better because there was layer separation so I didn’t include a photo, but I am very pleased I can do multi-colour now with one nozzle. The forum keeps showing me spelling mistakes for my Canadian English spelling of the words you Yankees changed. It should allow both. I will look for something creative to do in my ereyone metallic silk filaments. They should stick together better.
I think I got my mailman very excited about 3d printing, but he says they are working his ass off with this Plandemic.
re: spelling. You can right-click the word in question and “add it to dictionary” and you’ll never be bothered with it again.
Great to hear you got the multi-colour working
BTW, I think you should avoid words like “Plandemic”. It’s not that I agree or disagree with your viewpoint: it’s that I don’t think political viewpoints should be voiced in the forums at all, by anyone. This is a technical forum about 3D printing. I would like to see it stay that way. If it doesn’t, I will go elsewhere.
I will comply. You are absolutely right. I’m just a bit pissed off.
Now I have to think of something marvelous to print in colours. Thanks for your tip on the dictionary. I lived in California for eight years in the 80’s and raised some eyebrows with my English Canadian spelling. I think yankees should be taught that they did not invent English but I do agree that it evolves everywhere.
It’s true: all languages evolve over time. Just try to read Middle English! ?
The Americanized versions of many words were done deliberately as a middle finger to the British by Daniel Webster (yes, that Daniel Webster). He started his dictionary as a way to get people in North America to think of themselves as a separate society/culture, not some offshoot of English or European culture.
To be fair, I think he was more concerned about people thinking of themselves as a new society than he was about sticking it to the British, although I doubt he was too upset about pissing the Brits off.
Annnd, thx for understanding about politics; much appreciated.
I am looking for a suggestion on holding down glass on the monprice MP10 dose anyone have a suggestion or something that I can download possible that is out there for this machine to fit the build plate.
Ender5r very astute observations. I can remember when we were completely owned by the British. I was born in 45. Now the yanks own us completely. Our speech has changed accordingly.
I don’t know the MP10, but I just ordered & rec’d these for my Ender 5: [U]Amazon.com
I bought some of those two because I thought I would need them.
I think I’m going to like the glue stick on my creality glass bed better than stinky hairspray that only dissolves in alcohol. For some reason I haven’t been printing today. I usually give all my prints away to friends and with the covid thing I don’t get many visits. I am running out of space to put them all. I am trying to dream up a cool thing to do with colour changes. My lightning struck brain is drawing a blank and the lightning I hear now in the distance doesn’t help. I’m a little bit gun shy.
