Exceptionally pleased with new SV08. Ok, so the elephant in the room is the inconsistent z-offset. I overcome this (for now) by simply printing a skirt at slow speed and adjust z-offset manually. Although it always seems to be -0.2mm. So consistently inconsistent … if that makes sense. Other than that … PLA and PETG print beautifully. So much better than the Creality CR10 I also have.
So … so far so good. Given it’s base on the Voron … and the vast community of moders … I’m looking forward to much future tinkering with upgrades, improvements, etc. perhaps even having a go at one of the open-source tool-changer options for multi-colour printing.
But just wanted to share the good news thus far. It’s such a wonder to see a perfectr first layer go down.
… next … find a quieter motherboard cooling fan.
I got a BigTreeTech HDMI5 display … and that’s great too. Plug and play. Although I actually still use the original small screen too. They both have advantages.
Ran a 10 hour print yesterday. It went flawlessly. This print would have taken over 30h on my Creality CR10 bedslinger. So just a little bit faster ! I have noted that I still need to ‘tweak’ the z-offset at start off. Also note that I need to improve the path that the cable loom takes from the gantry to the printhead … as it rubs one the gantries at higher print heights. Nowt a bit of silicone rubber tube won’t fix. Again … v. pleased. Using Elegoo Rapid PLA+. Which too seems to be performing well.
