Convert material displacement to mesh in Blender

I have scanned with PolyCam a statue. The mesh has good detail but there is more detail in the displacement map. I have seen some YouTube’s that offer some direction but I am not getting good results, distortion or not close to the detail that is in the rendered image. I have subdivided the mesh and tried to apply the UV map. Is there a plug-in, python or better way to do this. So far I have found this in CG-cookie.
Ultimately I want to print the model with Ender 3 V3 SE.
