It’s been a couple years since I last printed on my Ender 5 plus (12x12) and have always had frequent difficulties with the print sticking to the bed even after considerable leveling, PEI, Dimafix and trial and error using PETG.
Has there been any new developments in print bed sticking technology? I’m thinking of trying LayerLock Powder Coated PEI Build Plate orBuildTakBuildTak FlexPlate System 12" x 12" . I realize these are several years old materials. New ideas?
I still use plain ole glass as my build plate. Clean it with soap and water and run a bed temp of about 85°C with no added whatever. When it cools the prints pop off easily. I got that tip from Ivan Miranda several years ago.
I’ve tried glass, mirrors, the black sheet that come with the filament. I got the best results with PEI but it has been 50-60% unpredictably even with considerable Dimafix. I level frequently using post-it notes and minor adjust if it is not sticking. @85°C There’s a level of frustration since too frequently i get no sticking for a number of prints. Ty for your comment.
How hot are you running your bed? I never had an issue with the default plate, or with a PEI sheet. It sounds like there is a few potential issues.
How often are you cleaning it and how? I normally use 99% IPA after every print, and every so often I’ll use soap & water. And of course, I never touch the surface, just the edges. With PETG I’ve never had to use any kind of adhesive agent. I do use hairspray with TPU, but that’s primarily to be a release agent.
Could be a levelling issue.. either measuring it wrong, or not saving the mesh etc. Seems unlikely to be the problem.
Seems like your particular bed is not maintaining level. Have you upgraded the springs, etc.
