New Printer Options

I am looking for a new printer with a larger build volume. I currently have an Ender 3 S1 pro and for the most part it meets my needs. I probably haven’t spent enough time tuning it, I get good enough results for what I do with the parts I make.

For this reason I am considering buying the Ender 3 S1 Plus. It has a build volume of 300mm cubed and my current printer has a build volume of 220mm cubed, so I get to print bigger parts.

I was also going to buy a creality sonic pro for my existing printer so I can take advantage of the Klipper interface. It claims to support more than one printer but only has a single vibration sensor. Not sure about this.

My question is, for people who use a larger cheap printer are there other options I should consider?

I suggest checking out reviews from the Aurora Tech channel on YouTube. She’s reviewed quite a few larger format printers in the last year or so.

I just bought an Ender 3 V3 PLUS and can thoroughly recommend it.
Very fast when needed. Big build area (bed and height). Runs on Klipper with no need for Sonic Pad. Touch screen. Self levelling and calibration.
No, I don’t work for Creality. :grinning:

That looks like a good printer. I have read some reviews and will.watch some youtube reviews to get a better understanding.

What would be good to know, maybe some reviews will provide, is what is the general working speed of the printer. They quote speeds up to 600mm/s, where up to is the operative phrase. It would be nice to know if you can generally print at 400mm/a or higher and how straight forward it is to obtain what ever is the general faster speed of the device.

Thanks

Whilst it says “up to 600mm/s” I’m pretty sure that top speed can be achieved, but it would depend on the filament and other factors, but let’s put it this way - out of the box, I printed a Benchy in 15 minutes and I wasn’t really trying.
Regardless, there will always be compromises due to mechanical limitations and at high speeds print quality may suffer.
Creality provide Creality Print 5 as a free slicer and Orca slicer has profiles for V3 printers, including the PLUS. Both slicers have their merits, depending on what you’re trying to do.
It would be worth your while to take a look at Creality’s Discord channel, where there’s a lot of useful information and knowledgeable people to ask.
