Lithophane lamp

It isn’t finished but I will send you pics and a screenshot of my settings. It seems bizarre to me too. I can see the thin edge on my print and I just shone a light through it from behind and it comes out positive.

Sorry, from those images I can’t tell if it’s positive or negative. Why not wait until it’s finished then hold it up to a window or strong light source and take a photo? It looks like it’s printing nicely though.

I’m trying some different settings. It will be interesting to see what the lamp does to them.

I see positive when I shine a flashlight from behind and I see a thin border.

For sure. Lithophanes are certainly interesting. I don’t know anyone who isn’t amazed when they see one for the 1st time.

My daughter and her husband were quite taken by them. My daughter’s mother takes beautiful photos so I will bribe her with her own lamp and I will make a lamp for my son. When I figure out Gimp I will be away to thre races with your excellent idea of the white frame. I just have to play with my thicknesses to get optimum and sizes too.

You know what, as Irv said, it seems like we’ve got a good collaboration going.

Well you certainly helped me.

I’m not sure if you’ve tried it, but I found another litho making site: https://itslitho.com. It allows you to see the litho before you download it. You can even adjust the size, brightness, contrast, etc. Also, the files are much larger than 3dp.rocks, but they also seem to have a lot more detail.

Thanks for the tip. I’m having a quality problem.
